Animal Rights Today and Lack there of!

Most if not all social animals have innate dispositions to cooperate for survival and as such, develop moral codes for behavior. As such, should humans not work more to ensure animals have basic rights even if they cannot ask for them? What rights should those be and is there some sort of hierarchy (should dogs have more rights than mice).

  1. Animal right compared to animal exploitation is autonomy, destruction of animal habitats.
  1. Octopi - found to be more intelligent that human being, 9 brains, sentient, now large farms are being created to produce thousands of Octopi a year for harvest. There have been reports of them being torn apart alive. They feel pain, they are sensitive creatures.
  2. Chickens, and Turkeys - Genetically modified to grownup in from naturally 6 months, to 40 days old to harvest. They are kicked, stepped on, dead chicks and chickens are everywhere, kept in confided areas by their owners.  Cage Free Chickens criteria is met with a 6-foot area for chickens to see the light 1 hour a day. Turkeys are stomped, punched and left to die the same way Chickens are treated.

They lay in their own poop, and urine, I have been in Quail farms which is similar to Chickens. The Quail have one area for the eggs incubating, a second area for chicks, and a third are for young to full grown Quail. The same is true for how Chickens are treated.

  1. Pigs – They are not lazy, or filthy, they are loving and sensitive animals, who are killed with an air gun to the head. They are housed in close confinement with one another and become more aggressive. In their las few weeks before slaughter they are fed high concentrations of fat, to add weight to them for a higher price at a farmers market auction.
  2. Cow, calves, Buffalo – Cattle are given very little freedom of movement, in highly concentrated areas, beaten, and electrocuted to move. The Cows the produce milk often stand-up all day long, being milked a fed 24-hours a day. 265 million dairy cows exist worldwide, producing over 264 gallons of milk for her calf over ten months. Cows produce over 5,283 gallons per year.  They live on cold, bard, hard floors, poor ventilation, loud noises,

The cows are forced to give birth once a year so they car produce milk for most of the year. We hunted Buffalo to nears extinction,

  1. Parrots, – Blue and Gold Parrots, Parakeets, we owned a dozen type of parrots including Blue and Gold Parrots, Parakeet, and other parrots. They are very intelligent birds, especially African Grey parrots which are more intelligent than 10-year-old. They have been discovered in vodou markets sold and kept in small cages., Their vocabulary can be thousands of words. I had a White Molokan who picked the lock of her cage with her claw. They give love and affection to the right owner. Other people isolate them and then end up plucking their own feathers and many end up in psychiatric facilities in Florida and other states after their owner’s abuse and neglect them. along with the Dodo Bird which was extinct due to hunting as food in the lates 1800’s

  1. Reptiles - various snakes and lizards have been a problem to our environment in recent years. The Python problem in Florida is evidence of how a non-native reptile has been let loose and affected the Alligator and ecosystem of Florida. Many wealthy owners of snakes’ cross-bred them to sell albino snakes at over $2000 per snake.

  1. Dogs and Cats – During the pandemic they were adopted by thousands of people. Now many thousands are being returned. The amount of abuse of cats and dogs I hard to comprehend. Many are beaten, tied to trees, starved to death, abandoned, shot, and many other horrible things. They end up with lifelong issues. Many dogs are bred for fighting in a ring such as in Mexico. Cats help reduce the population of rats in society, and there are millions of cats that are not neutered or spayed to control this epidemic of too many cats and dogs. Until the 1980’s Dogs and cats were killed for food in Asian countries and only banned in the past decade.

Today there are still puppy mills that produce bad litters of dogs. AKC – American Kennel Society monitors the quality of dogs and regulates the breeding. We have bred and sold litters of pure-bred poodles, only having up to 3 litter per bitch. Any more than 3 liters can endanger the lives of the dog, and affect its quality of life.

There are many misunderstood breeds that have very high insurance such as Pitbull, and St. Bernard due to their intelligence and abuse. We have many mentally disturbed people who shouldn’t be allowed to own animals. I feel that people should have to pass a test our course to evaluate the right to own a dog, cat, or exotic animal. It should be a privilege to own an animal, and not a right. We should protect the inalienable rights of animals.

The Us Animal Welfare Act passed in 1966 was supposed to address these issues concerning the sale, transport, and handling of dogs, cats, rabbits, primates, guinea pigs, and hamsters.

There are too many reptiles, Birds, Dogs, Cats, and all other animals that man abuses, and treats horribly. The penalties for abuse of any animal should be as severe as mistreatment of a human child.

Mankind man have advanced technology, I think he has not de-evolved in his treatment of the Earth, and all the animals that inhabit it. He has not respect for his fellow man or any animals on this planet.
